Om Lake Resort

This is about the restaurant, not a stay. The place is cozy and has a really relaxing feel. The woman making the dishes is superb at fish fry and fish thalis, and the prices are reasonable. Stop by this little spot for a nice, warm meal that fills your soul.

We were looking for somewhere to eat good food on our way back from North Goa and stumbled across this place. It was set up nicely by a small lake, and the staff were so friendly, all smiles and ready to help. They served us a super yummy fish meal. Halfway through eating, we found out we were their first customers. We also discovered they have lodging by the lake. It was a great way to spend some time after the scorching heat at North Goa beach.

Dangerous! This is about the employee named Deepak. We stayed a week, and he was so drunk every evening that he forgot all his manners. On two of the six evenings, he threatened us with physical violence. Almost every night he'd come into the dorm, smoke, and play loud music, with 1:30 am being the worst. He insulted me in Hindi and made up lies in front of the owner to justify his awful behavior. Every other guest had a similar story about him. Again, he's dangerous and violent when drunk, and he's drunk every evening. Don't come while this employee is still around. I'm sorry for Lalit, the owner. He's a very friendly guy who built a beautiful place, but one drunken idiot is ruining it.

I stayed for three days in February. It's cheap and the food is good, and although the place has a nice lake view, the beach is a good 20-minute walk away. Some parts of the road aren't lit, so that's something to think about if you're coming to Goa for the beaches. The value for money is decent, but Rudra Holidays Guest House and Swati Guest House are right on the beach for the same price. There are also plenty of rooms nearby with the same facilities if you walk around the beach. These places don't know how to list themselves online, so they're even cheaper. Customer service was poor. On day two, I asked for soap and he and his wife told me to use the same Rs.5/- Medimix hand soap for three days. I asked for shampoo too, but didn't get any until day three. A frog got into my bathroom, and I waited nearly an hour for someone to remove it. Even with the bathroom window, main door, and main windows shut, frogs still got in twice in three days. They're not scary, but they might be if one jumped on you in the shower. Red ants somehow got onto the bed and bit me like crazy, so I couldn't sleep on my last night. Room no. 7 had no proper path, just a dead-dark, sometimes scary walk by the lake at night. The bathroom had a Zero Watt bulb, so shaving at night wasn't possible. The bathroom was reasonably clean, but the bed linen was dirty, and neither the room nor linen was cleaned or changed during my three days. There's no TV, and the Wi-Fi at the restaurant doesn't work.
