The Hosteller Goa, Mandrem

The sunset views from every part of the property are so good that you don’t need to rush out for sundowners. You can just read a book and watch the sky change. Our private room faced the sea, and it’s only about a two-minute walk to the beach. The rooms were clean and hygienic, and the WiFi was good enough for working. The Hosteller has a lovely feel and is really well maintained. Purnima was especially helpful whenever we had an issue. I’ll definitely come back.

It’s quiet and refreshing here, and the whole place has a calm, welcoming feel. The staff were polite, friendly, and ready to help, while housekeeping kept the rooms fresh and organized each day. The common areas were neat and hygienic too. I found the setting comfortable and relaxing for either a short visit or a longer stay.

The rooms have a fantastic view. No caps. Everything was clean, and the rooms had the facilities you need. The one letdown was that there was no dental kit, even though toiletries were listed as provided. Not a deal breaker, though. Since it’s a hostel, there’s no room service. The menu is vegetarian only, but most of the food we tried was delicious and came in good portions: Bread Pakora, Mix Veg Pakora Platter, White sauce Pasta, Aloo Paratha, Aloo Tikki Chat, and Masala Chai. The tea was a mood killer, but the rest was tasty. When things were busy, orders could take a while, though all our requests were handled properly. Couples should find it great. I wouldn’t recommend bringing family, since the crowd is hip and vibrant and might not be a good influence on kids or parents. 😉😉 I’m definitely planning to make it my regular place to stay in Goa. The dorm rooms don’t have a direct view, but you can get the same landscape from the open terrace.

The easygoing atmosphere was one of my favorite parts. It wasn’t too loud, and the common spaces and poolside areas had cozy spots to hang out with friends, read, or work on a laptop without feeling cramped or disturbed. It was easy to be social and then head off for some quiet. The location is close to the beach but away from the busier commercial stretches, so there’s little noise or traffic. Mandrem beach is a short walk away, and the single rooms have an uninterrupted sunset view that feels almost private. It would suit solo travelers looking to unwind, or couples and friends after a calm, scenic stay. There’s a mix of dorms and elevated private rooms, so it works for both social trips and quieter ones. From the single rooms, you can see the Mandrem-Arambol stretch and the Arabian Sea. Hearing the waves in the morning and watching a golden sunset from the balcony made the stay feel worth it. Check-in was simple and almost contactless. I got the room details and key access on my phone and went straight to the room, which was convenient after a long journey. The property was clean, well kept, and laid out thoughtfully. The private rooms sit higher up, with a full beach-facing view rather than a partial or obstructed one. The in-house cafe offered several options, and the food tasted consistently good across different meals. Outside food and online deliveries are allowed too, so you can try local places or order in and eat quietly on the balcony. That flexibility, alongside a reliable kitchen, was guest-friendly. The stay felt like good value, and I’d recommend it for a quiet, well-equipped beachside escape in North Goa.
