The rooms felt uncomfortable and weren’t clean, and the food was very poor. Service was painfully slow, with staff who came across as rude and unhelpful. I left very dissatisfied and would give Amarjees Hotel zero stars. I wouldn’t recommend it to families.

For the price, this was a great deal: the bus from Shimla ISBT cost 60 rupees and took about an hour and a half. There are regular buses, and the hotel is right by Shimla-Manali NH 215 Highway, so getting there wasn’t very difficult. It’s 30 km from Shimla town. The room was good, the toilets were clean and tidy, and the staff behaved well, though they weren’t friendly.

It’s around 34 KM from Shimla, in Shalaghat, but if you’re looking for a low-priced room in Himachal, amarjeas is a good choice. The accommodation was good, and the workers were cooperative too.

My wife and I visited Shimla over New Year in January 2016 and got very good service here. Mr amarjees, the hotel owner, is a very good person, and his behaviour really made an impression on us.

I think this place may not suit tourists, since it’s more than 30 km past Shimla and takes about an hour to reach. The service was nice, though, and the food was very good.
