Marina's Motel

Our taxi driver suggested this place for lunch after we landed at Bagdogra Airport on the way to Mirik. The restaurant is large, with seating in an indoor hall and an open area. It felt like fine dining, the prices were reasonable, the staff were good, and the washroom was clean. We didn’t stay there, so I can’t comment on the rooms.

The staff are what won us over, they were extremely helpful and courteous. We found the rooms with a view comfortable and cozy. There are also spacious rooms without views, but some people might find those a bit claustrophobic. Nice stay.

Breakfast was amazing, and there’s a small garden or park to stroll around in. The rooms have an old-fashioned feel but are cozy. We got two complimentary bottles of RO water, tea and coffee bags, and toiletries. The flush button in Room 101 wasn’t working, but the hotel moved us to another room ASAP.

We waited around 40 minutes for food even though the place wasn’t crowded, and the menu had very few choices. When it got late, we gave our kids snacks we had brought along, but staff told us outside food wasn’t allowed and asked us not to eat it. That felt insensitive after such a long wait. The food was only average, and the paneer sabji was especially disappointing, with hardly any gravy, just paneer pieces and onions. Poor service, limited options, and unsatisfactory food made for a very unpleasant visit to Marina Hotel, Bagdogra. Not recommended.
