Golden Retreat

Ms. Srija at the front desk gave us a warm welcome and was courteous and quick to help during check-in. We had come with family, and the staff’s professionalism and attention to detail made the stay comfortable and memorable. The rooms were well maintained, the atmosphere elegant and peaceful, and the food was very good. Golden Retreat is one of Berhampore’s finest options for guests who appreciate attentive service.

At the Zafran restaurant, the chicken Patiala and Blueberry Cheesecake were probably the best we’ve had in decades. The hotel itself is fabulous for a 4* property in central Berhampur. Rooms, facilities, staff, breakfast, and location were all excellent for the price.

Sreeja at the front desk was so friendly and courteous, always ready to help with a smile. Her warm, professional manner really stood out. Golden Retreat Hotel was clean and comfortable, with a calm atmosphere that made it relaxing after a long day visiting the historic sites around Murshidabad. The rest of the staff were helpful and polite too. I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

I paid ₹275 for a soap dish I was told was missing, but the checkout experience left me humiliated. I’d cleared about ₹6,000 in dues and was waiting while the receptionist sent someone to inspect my room. I needed to get to Kolkata, so I asked him to hurry. I was surprised by the claim: I bring my own toiletries and don’t use hotel products, and I didn’t even know what soap dish he meant. I paid because I was with someone and wanted to avoid an embarrassing scene. I travel often for work, spending around 15 days a month in hotels, and the food and hotel itself had been quite good. This was my second stay here. In my 11-year career, including stays at many 7-star hotels, I’ve never had this happen before. I told the receptionist I wouldn’t stay here again. If I ever have to return, I’ll insist someone checks everything in my presence before I enter the room.
