OYO 22837 Chairmen's Hotel

I don’t understand how this place gets so many good reviews. Reception staff didn’t pay proper attention to guests, and I was shown three rooms, none of them cleaned properly. Staff were yelling at each other. The bed and covers were poorly washed, with stains everywhere. They also don’t accept online payment. My stay on 11 Jan 2019 was very unpleasant.

I’ve never stayed in Oyo rooms, but I wanted to offer Oyo management a free suggestion: they should shut down the business. I felt they act as if they’re doing customers a favor by arranging stays in their chain hotels. Anyone who wants to be treated that way can happily book and enjoy. Happy stay! There’s only one contact number. You have to wait for someone to pick up, and even if they do, you may be put on hold for over 20 minutes. Don’t be surprised if the call gets dropped.

This was the worst restaurant experience of my life. None of the food I ordered was good, and everyone who had dinner with me ended up with an upset stomach. The portions were tiny too. A full soup serving was smaller than the smallest curry bowl at home, and we returned almost everything, more than half the portions. The tomato soup was thicker than cheap ketchup, more like cornflour soup, with chunks of cornflour floating in it. See the attached image to compare the bowl size with the spoon and fork. After I’d said all this to them, they still asked me to pay the bill. :-)

I chose this hotel because it was close to the event venue I had to attend, even though the photos didn’t make the rooms look that great. The rooms turned out utterly basic, and the staff were money-minded, impolite, and unprofessional. I’d traveled all the way from Hyderabad and arrived at 10.30 am, but nobody was at reception. I asked a housekeeping worker to call the receptionist, who eventually came making humming sounds. I tried not to judge him and showed my OYO payment and confirmation. He said they don’t accept online payments. When I asked why they were listed on OYO, he bluntly replied, “Don’t ask me, ask OYO.” He insisted that I could check in if I paid cash. He also said I’d only be allowed to check in before 12 if I paid 30% extra. Usually hotels allow early check-in at no cost when a room is available. OYO policy says check-in before 10 is considered early check-in and has a 30% extra charge.
