The Park Residency

The place felt dated, and the reception staff weren’t welcoming or well trained. Housekeeping and service were poor too. The price may be low, but the service felt even cheaper. If you’re traveling light, think twice before staying here. I’d have paid a couple hundred more to go somewhere else. One of the worst experiences I’ve had on my travels.

The parking is enclosed and secure, though it’s quite small. Rooms are reasonably good for the price, but nothing special. Breakfast is supposed to be complimentary, yet they still ask for money, which is ridiculous. The food was a complete letdown compared with nearby restaurants. They also don’t bring food to your room unless you pay an extra 100 bucks per plate.

The location, fair price, and reasonably clean rooms were the reasons I kept coming back. This was my 23rd stay, according to my card statements, and I’d even posted a positive review in 2013. I had sent at least 12 people there too. Over the years, though, I noticed the manager and staff seemed to treat me differently, and I heard from a reference who stayed a few months ago that check-in and checkout rules were being applied differently to online bookings and NRI guests. Two days ago, that happened to me as well. They’d usually followed an informal 24-hour check-in and checkout arrangement, whether you paid on site or another way. Changing to fixed times is reasonable if it’s done for everyone, but nobody told me the policy had changed. After checkout time, I went downstairs to get lunch, and only then did the manager mention it and threaten an extra charge. I left within 15 minutes and skipped lunch. The extra 30 USD wasn’t a big deal financially. What bothered me was how casually they treated a regular guest with more than 20 stays. I never asked for special privileges, but I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. The hotel doesn’t feel like it did three years ago, and occupancy below 30 percent says a lot.

During Holi, I left my bag with the hotel while I went to the swimming pool. When I came back, the valuables were gone. Staff said they had recovered some phones and purses, but couldn’t guarantee the cash inside. This wasn’t just my bag either, around 15 to 20 phones and purses were missing. When I got the purses and belongings back, about 1,200 bucks and some of my phone accessories were gone. The management was awful.
