The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore

Breakfast was excellent, and the staff made a big difference to my first trip alone with my two children while my husband was away. It gave me a lot of confidence, and I'm grateful for how special they made our stay. Since it's only about 30 minutes from home, we'd love to come back. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday. The pool was fantastic, and the beer juice and snacks by the pool were delicious. I wish there had been a shower room nearby, though maybe I just didn't notice it, because we walked back to our room feeling quite cold. We'd booked dinner at the Chinese restaurant, but apparently the reservation hadn't been communicated properly and our table wasn't ready, which was surprising. Apart from that, the hospitality was wonderful.

The breakfast buffet at The Market was very good, with plenty of choice, and dining there was one of the better parts of our one-night stay. Still, for the high price, the luxury experience didn't feel worth it. We expected more from The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore. Arrival and reception felt inattentive and not well organized, and we didn't consistently feel looked after. Compared with our stays at Leela Palace and banyan tree, the hospitality and warmth here felt lacking. The rooftop cocktails disappointed too. At Zaaiya, the Indian restaurant, the food didn't meet expectations, especially given the premium prices and the hotel's reputation. There were some positives, but the stay overall fell short of what we'd expected from a hotel in this category.

The venue atmosphere worked very well for a group of 200, and breakfast was mostly great, though the idlis got too hard to eat once they cooled a little. At the business event I attended, the food quality was above average, but lunch was chaotic. All the food stations were in one spot and the 30-minute limit caused heavy crowding and a rushed meal. Spreading the buffet stations around would help the flow.

The sauna and swimming pool were excellent and well maintained, but they couldn't make up for the service and privacy problems. For a one-day stay at The Ritz-Carlton, I expected a luxury five-star standard. Instead, it felt inconsistent with the brand, more like a budget stay, and was ultimately disappointing. Wine that staff had committed to serving at 7 PM arrived only at 3 AM, after several follow-ups. The delay showed a serious lack of coordination and attention to what had been promised. Privacy was also a concern: staff let visitors in, then almost immediately started calling us repeatedly about alleged noise, even though we weren't making any. Their repeated suggestions that we book an extra room felt unnecessary and inappropriate. A security guard was then stationed right outside our room and seemed to be monitoring or listening in. It felt invasive and neither welcoming nor respectful. Discretion and guest comfort should matter at a luxury hotel, so this level of intrusion was unexpected.
