The Royale Senate Race Course

The restaurant was a bright spot, with good food at breakfast and dinner. The hotel itself felt poorly maintained for a charge of 5k+ per night. The furniture and other room fittings are quite old, the floor creaked, and there was an odd smell from the wardrobe. There's no bathroom door, either.

I've been here five times in the past year, always for work. The breakfast is a favorite, and room service has been good when I've ordered it. Rooms aren't huge, but they're not cramped either. The location is central, so it's easy to get around from here. For the room price, I've had a really good experience.

The polite, humble staff were the one real plus during a disappointing stay. The property didn't live up to what I'd expect from a boutique hotel. The lobby was reasonably clean, but elsewhere things looked neglected. The layout felt unwelcoming, with the staff lift before the passenger lift, giving the place a budget feel. There were awkwardly placed chairs by the lift, dirt and cracks in the walls, worn towels, and an old bed with sagging springs. The sheet wasn't clean, and the internet was below average. Breakfast was vegetarian only, with very few choices. The hotel needs substantial upkeep and upgrades to match the image its name suggests.

Clean rooms and a nice place to stay.
