Hotel Kailash International

The food was the best part for us. It was very good, and the staff were polite, attentive, and extremely helpful. There was table service or a buffet, though the buffet selection, while decent, didn’t seem worth the price per person. Our driver had been promised a good dormitory, but the mattress and blankets smelled so bad and seemed so unhygienic that he slept in the car instead. We also had problems in our room and bathroom. The “luxury” room wasn’t terrible, but it needed maintenance: the wall corners were broken, the fridge was sticky and hard to open, and the mattress was so hard I’d rather have slept on the floor. The bathroom walls were blackened, with no exhaust fan. Its window opened onto the hallway, so there was little privacy, and we could hear people walking and talking outside. There was a bathtub, but the shower curtain sat 6-8 inches away from it, so water ran onto the floor. No bucket or tumbler was provided as another option. We’d stopped because the hotel looked appealing from outside and had some positive reviews, but the stay didn’t meet our expectations. After asking the rate and seeing a room, we asked the manager for a few minutes to decide. When we came back about 10 minutes later, reception said that room had been sold and only a higher-category one was left. It was hard to believe every room had sold so quickly, especially as two other guests were complaining about their rooms at the same time. Despite the good food and helpful staff, the room, bathroom, and dormitory issues brought the stay down. I’d rate the hotel below average.
