Hotel Kalinga Palace

Booked in person, and they said breakfast was free. When I booked, they then said it wasn’t included. The next day it was more blah blah. It felt like cheating and taking customers’ money. Worst hotel experience in Rajasthan. 17/5/26.

There are two room types, Executive and Deluxe. The Deluxe room was awful: the washroom was dirty and smelly, and the shaft view had lots of pigeons. The TV didn’t work, and the food was very expensive.

The bar itself is very good, but the bouncer’s behavior was unprofessional. I asked the DJ for just one song, and the bouncer acted as if we were drunk, which isn’t good for the hotel’s reputation. I’ve heard all the bar cameras are working, so I’d like to discuss and explain what happened if I’m mistaken. I’m a professional, the Rajasthan Head at a reputed company, and I felt he treated me as if I couldn’t explain myself. A bouncer’s job is to keep people safe, not attack guests, even when they’re professional. I hope this doesn’t happen again and that the hotel addresses it. Please don’t take strict action against the bouncer, as he has a duty to do, but professionalism is needed.

It’s a decent hotel near Barmer’s main market and close to the railway station. The rooms are a reasonable size, though upkeep and maintenance are only average. Breakfast is a buffet with fruit, cereal, poha, bread and butter, paratha, and tea or coffee.
