Hotel Thakur Shri

I come back to this hotel each time I visit Bhopal. As a solo traveler, I think it’s great value. It’s an easy walk from Bhopal Junction and the bus stand, and both the dorms and rooms are excellent for the price.

I paid just 500 rupees for a night while travelling solo, and around Bhopal’s bus stand and railway station I doubt you’ll find anything cheaper. It’s a good value option if you mainly need somewhere to sleep for one night, with good food options nearby. They can also arrange food from an outside kitchen restaurant, and it tasted pretty good. The staff were kind and helpful. I’d rate the rooms 7 out of 10: they were enough for me for a night, though maybe not so good for a longer stay. The rooms are on the first, second and third floors, and the stairs are narrow, so check the property first if that could be a problem for you. Don’t book online before checking.

I’d only choose this hotel if there were no other options. The location and low price are the only good things; everything else was pathetic. My room was dusty, with bad bedsheets and a poor-quality pillow. There was no ventilation or window, the TV didn’t work, and there was no geyser. The washroom wasn’t proper, and the jet spray didn’t work. There were mosquitoes in the washroom too. Water leaked onto the floor in my room, and the corridors were often noisy. Staff kept walking around in flip-flops that made a sound, and during the night I heard people talking loudly and slamming doors. I don’t recommend staying here.

The dorm is non-AC and has eight beds. The beds and washroom are clean and decent, drinking water is available, and the staff behave well. It’s a clean, cheap option for a short stay at Hotel Thakur Sri. Check-in and checkout are at 11:00 am, and they charge extra if you arrive early in the morning.
