The New Marrion

We ended up skipping the main course, and I apologized to my family for choosing the wrong place and ruining their evening. We’d had good food here months ago, so I’m left wondering whether they changed the chef or decided to lower the service standards. I also wonder whether Mirch masala and the Marrion team will apologize and fix the food and the behavior. Let’s see. The Mushroom salt and Paper was mostly capsicum and chilies, and it came cold, not even warm. The few pieces of mushroom people got were so rubbery they were confusing. The Paneer Tikka was half cooked. My son, who usually asks for extra paneer, gave his portion back to me so it wouldn’t go to waste. When I asked about Mushroom Salt and Paper because I couldn’t find it on the menu, the waiter gave me a sarcastic look and said, “If I search Chinese item in indian menu, how do I get it.” If they have multiple menus, they should explain that clearly and have the courtesy to do so. When we asked for water, the waiter brought a bottle and announced it was Rs 120 before opening it, as if he were asking whether we could afford it. I’m still confused about what was worse, the food quality or the behavior. I’m never coming back, even if the food is free or every other food place is shut. Pathetic food quality.

The food was quite good, and the prices were reasonable. We held a conference here for 20 participants, and the facilities covered what a small to medium-sized group needs.

My family has enjoyed dining at Mirch Masala. We like the cuisine, ambience, service, and live songs, and we take our guests there too. It’s one of the finest hotels in Bhubaneswar, with excellent restaurants. I hope they keep up the quality.
