The rooms were only okay, and the hotel is near the main road. What really brought my rating down was the receptionist confidently telling us that all tourist places, including Gol Gumbaz, open at 9 in the morning. We found out the next day that Gol Gumbaz opens at 6am, and it was already crowded when we got there. Because of that bad information, we missed the chance to see a couple of places in Vijayapura.

Spacious rooms at a budget price, and it's near the main attractions. Nothing fancy, just good value for families on a leisure trip.

Sagar deluxe is right in the city center, opposite Bara Kaman in Bijapur. If your plan is to see the tourist spots during the day and sleep at the hotel at night, it's a decent budget choice. An average place for families, and better suited to men only.

It's very close to the railway and bus stations, and the rooms work well for solo or business travellers. The staff are cooperative. The air conditioners need servicing because the air in the room has a stale smell.

I stayed three nights in room 205. Since I'd booked and paid online, check-in was fairly simple, although reception seemed confused when I arrived. The room had a double bed made from two singles pushed together. There was also a couch and coffee table, comfortable for relaxing or working on a laptop, plus a big cupboard with only a few hangers. The mattress was firm, and the sheets were stained but smelled clean. I used the TV once, and it seemed stuck on one channel, though I didn't really want to watch Indian TV anyway. Two fans kept the room cool enough to sleep. The bathroom was poor: the shower spray was so weak it was basically useless, so I had to bathe using the taps. Hot water was inconsistent, never available at night but there during the day. The sink tap was equally weak, with only cold water and a slow flow. Still, the bathroom worked, even if it was rustic. To lock the room when leaving, you have to use a padlock, as shown in the photos. Housekeeping never came during my stay, despite me leaving the key at reception. The listing said free WiFi, but there was no internet. I could see a hotel-named WiFi signal, but was told it had no internet. Without my own mobile internet, I'd have been in real trouble. I wouldn't have booked if I'd known. For a budget hotel in Bijapur, where decent places are scarce, it was about what I expected. The service was seriously lacking, and no internet is a deal breaker for me.
