S. K. Guest House (A Complete Home Stay)

We had a very good meal, and the building itself is grand and beautifully restored. Our room was gorgeous, spacious, and full of decorative touches, with a lovely view over the courtyard. The staff were attentive, and the old city location is great. Special thanks to our waiter, Sampath.

The location was terrible. Even an auto-rickshaw can’t reach the property, so expect to walk at least 500 meters with your luggage. For ₹18,000, that’s an extremely frustrating level of inconvenience, especially when there are so many other problems. The room had dirty toiletries, buckets, and mugs, and the washroom was unhygienic. There was no TV, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, writing pad, or pen or pencil. I asked for Wi-Fi again and again for over 6 hours and still didn’t get access. The food was very poor and not worth paying for. The flush tank didn’t work, the fan had no regulator and stayed at one speed, and instead of a proper switchboard there was only a cheap extension board. Even the dustbin had no cover, which says a lot about the lack of cleanliness. The online pictures and promises were misleading, and the place felt like management cared about attracting customers online but had no concern for guest comfort or satisfaction. It was poorly maintained, unprofessional, and grossly overpriced. Paying that much for such neglect was deeply frustrating. I strongly advise travelers to stay away and spend their money somewhere that values guests. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.

Finding this place can be tricky, and you may need an auto to get there. But once you’re inside, the historical architecture is hard to leave behind. The intricate carvings and paintings are beautiful enough to take your breath away.

We had a wonderful time, and the team’s service was just lovely. Our room, #46, was exceptional, and the courtyard is beautiful. The food was outstanding too. Many thanks to Seampath, Vinod, and their colleagues around the property. I highly recommend staying here.
