OYO Flagship 13623 Baga Villa Bomfim

We had a good time, though the stay could have been great if some smaller things had been taken care of. The location and courteous staff were the best parts, and the outdoor area is green with a nice pool. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, were poorly maintained and not cleaned well. We had to keep asking for basics like drinking water, toilet paper, hand wash, and a dustbin. We paid almost 7k per night for two rooms for five people, which feels very steep looking back. Still, among the places we saw nearby, the location and staff made it seem like a decent choice. If you want to stay near Baga, it may work, but try to get a better deal.

The room cleaning staff were really polite and did a very nice job, and the place is close to the beaches, about four minutes from Baga Beach and six from Calangute Beach. But I’m never coming back. The pool looked huge in the OYO app photos, but in reality it’s tiny. The washrooms weren’t clean and the flush still didn’t work properly even after we changed rooms. The lights flickered at night, and hot water was available on only one of the four days we stayed. The TV didn’t work, and even when it did, there were only 6-8 channels. Food was very, very expensive, and the in-house restaurant’s karaoke was entertaining, but the food was awful. We chose the breakfast and dinner combo ourselves, and both meals were terrible. The non-veg thali at night wasn’t worth the price, though we ate it anyway. The receptionist had a behavior issue, too. Not worth the price at all.

The room wasn’t cleaned while we were out on the second day, even though we left the key at reception and asked for it. On our first day, lunch arrived with a large insect cooked into the roti. The staff wouldn’t compensate us and charged the full amount, saying the restaurant was responsible, even though it’s on the property and provides room service. The place is close to Baga Beach and Tito's Lane, and the water purifier by reception was handy for refilling reusable bottles. I stayed two nights with friends in October 2019, and it wasn’t a pleasant stay.

The pool and the amount of space were positives, but cleanliness was awful. The room smelled, the floor was still damp, and there were no toiletries, towels, or water bottles until we kept contacting reception. We paid 7-8K in December. Breakfast felt very unhealthy, and there was just one shared spoon for everyone and no stirrer for tea or coffee. Maybe the large property and long list of rooms mean cleanliness gets neglected. Go at your own risk.
