Hotel Monal

The in-house restaurant was very good, though it serves only vegetarian food. You can have non-veg brought to your room. The hotel staff are kind and helpful, and the rooms are good for the budget, with a great view from the gallery. Getting there is the main drawback: seven-seater vehicles can’t park nearby, and the road is so narrow that drop-off and pickup are difficult. Staff will escort you down the 10-15 steps to the hotel and carry your luggage.

Mr. Krishna and his team were supportive and very helpful. You reach the hotel by going down a few steps, as you do at most hilltop hotels. Mall Road is only a five-minute walk away. There’s no hotel parking, but parking is available nearby, and taxis for sightseeing can be arranged at reasonable rates. It’s an old but clean, well-maintained place in a peaceful spot on Mall Road, with lovely valley views. Towels and soap are provided, while a toothbrush kit and electric kettle are available on request. The restaurant has room for around 40 people, an open area in front, and serves food from the menu. Room service is available too. For a visit to Dalhousie alone or with family, it’s a good budget option.

The rooftop restaurant and sitting area had beautiful views, and the window in our room looked out on lovely scenery too. I stayed at Hotel Monal, Dalhousie with friends for two nights and three days in winter. The rooms were comfortable, the facilities were good for the affordable price, and we had a really amazing time. One memorable evening, we shared a bonfire with the kind, friendly owner. Seeing the stars and moon at night felt magical and made the stay even more special. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Dalhousie, especially in winter.

Hotel monal gave us a good experience, with a great view behind it and good service. It was budget-friendly, and the car they arranged for us to get around Dalhousie was good too. We had a really enjoyable day and a great time there. ✨
