The room used to be a rice barn, and its rustic feel worked nicely with the modern amenities. We also spent time relaxing by the lovely pool. It’s a peaceful spot with beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife. The team were excellent, always ready to help and genuinely happy to share their culture and surroundings. They prepared local dishes each day with quality and taste clearly in mind. Sree was especially welcoming and amazing, nothing seemed like too much trouble.

The service at Kurialacherry House felt like a real luxury, with so much attention and care. I was also impressed by its focus on sustainability and support for the local community. It’s unusual to find that kind of social and environmental commitment alongside high-end hospitality. From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel at home while the lush nature gave the stay an exotic feel. The homemade food was delicious, with authentic flavors in every bite. A hidden gem.

The boat trip was a lovely part of our stay. They have their own boat and took us to peaceful, less explored spots along the river. The pool was clean and well maintained, too. We really enjoyed the tasty food, and the staff looked after us throughout. The owner was down to earth and made us feel at home. The property sits right by a beautiful river, and the view was calming and refreshing. It’s far from the city, so there aren’t shops or quick access to things nearby. But for a quiet break away from the crowds, it’s a great fit.

Waking up to birdsong and sitting beside the backwaters was such a lovely part of our three days here. The cottages follow a traditional Kerala style, with interiors that fit the design, and the beds were comfortable. Staff were courteous and always around when needed. Breakfast changed each day, with fresh, healthy, tasty Kerala food. We had idiappams, dosa, appams, eggs, boiled bananas and fresh fruit juices on different mornings. They also made us Sadhya, a typical Kerala meal for special occasions. Jacob and his team offer a guided village walk, so leave a little time for that. There are cooking demonstrations too.
