Sunny Days Homestay Alleppey

The backwaters flow right outside the property gate, with a lush green garden and very clean rooms. The owner serves delicious homemade authentic food, prepared with care and attention to hygiene. The staff have a happy-go-lucky manner, and he can help arrange drinks if you need them, or you can bring your own. Amazing experience. Good people.

We arrived with family around 8 pm. The stay is quite far from Alappey railway station, about 35 minutes by road, and getting to the houseboat area and other main attractions took a long time since we didn’t know the location well. The place was clean, and we liked how calm and quiet the location was, which is why I’m giving it at least two stars. But the hospitality didn’t satisfy us much. The water heater wasn’t working and it was cold; the furniture and setup felt old and not properly maintained. Breakfast had only one option, which didn’t suit the kids. We were also surprised to be charged a lot for a small omelet we thought was complimentary for the little ones, plus extra tea.

Mr. Sunil Jacob was really kind and accommodating. We arrived late on check-in day and hadn’t let them know about dinner. It was raining heavily, so we couldn’t go out, but he quickly cooked dinner for us. The food was simple and very nice, and he also arranged a boat ride. We had a pleasant stay in decent rooms right in front of the river. It’s a bit away from Alleppey town, but I’d highly recommend the place.

It’s a rural village setting on the outskirts of Allepy, near the river bay, and larger restaurants and food variety are limited. Tempo-style vehicles have to be left about 300 meters away. The clean rooms, nice scenery and family-friendly feel are positives. Good for families with children who want a quiet stay and aren’t expecting a wide choice of food.
