Hotel Joy by OYO Rooms

The location worked well for me since being near mohali sector 56 was my priority. There’s an ATM and shops nearby. We stayed in a premium room with plenty of space for three, including our five-year-old. The washroom was clean, roomy enough for bathing, and had warm water. Food was very good, served on hygienic plates and cups. The maggie, pakoras, and tea we ordered were delicious. This is one of the better OYO tie-ups despite OYO’s deteriorating service.

For three nights, I stayed in room 203. The food quality was the best part, especially the Dal Makhni, which you should try if you visit. Room service was awesome, and the room was good compared with other hotels in Mohali. It’s pocket friendly and has great amenities.

Joy residency was not at all family friendly, and I’d never recommend it for a wedding or family gathering. Some of the support staff were kind and helpful, though they also didn’t seem to have a great experience working there. The water motor broke at 07.00 am on the wedding day, just as guests were waiting to shower and get ready for the scheduled ceremony. We were late and missed our auspicious time. The motorman didn’t arrive until 10.30, even though they knew how much timing matters for an occasion like that. The manager acted unconcerned and kept giving us nonsense reasons for the lack of water. Housekeeping was missing through the day. On Sunday, we asked them to clean room 208, which had been messed up as the main wedding room. Staff refused to sweep, so we asked for a broomstick. He handed it over without an apology, and we cleaned the whole floor ourselves. There was also dust on some furniture. The bathrooms weren’t clean, a few bathroom door locks didn’t work, and their floors were always wet. Every time, we had to wipe them with towels just to stand and use the mirror. I also lost my expensive sandals. A staff member found them, but they were never returned to us. The owner gave me endless lies for three days, saying he was checking CCTV, then claiming CCTV didn’t cover that particular area. It was a shame for OYO to be associated with this place.

It’s in a quiet area and works well for a short stay, with a convenient location for getting around Chandigarh. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They have basic amenities including AC rooms, free Wi-Fi, and arrangements for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had a nice experience overall.
