OYO 15772 Silver City

The owner was a helpful, nice young guy, and when I pointed out that the beds were unclean on arrival, he had them changed straight away. The bathroom was decent, which matters if you're just staying overnight. The rooms themselves are small and ordinary, and the hotel is tucked among many other businesses, making it hard to find even with GPS. There's a balcony attached to the room, which adds a bit of atmosphere and is great for smoking. I don't think they have a kitchen, so food needs to be ordered from outside; a hotel boy will gladly do that for you. For a student or traveler needing one night's stay, it's okay. Otherwise, I'd strongly recommend a better hotel.

There's no lift, and room service is poor. The hotel food service is expensive, so ordering online is better. The rooms are large, but some have damp walls. It's an okay place, neither very good nor very bad. Online, a double room was listed at 1,200 per day; I got one offline for 900, and I don't think it's worth more than that. The telephone doesn't work, though that might have been a temporary problem.

The photos make the difference pretty clear: the first attached picture shows the room I booked online, and the others show what the hotel gave me. The staff said my room was already full, even though I had paid for it, and I still don't understand how someone else could book it. At checkout, they pushed me to leave a five-star rating on Oyo, saying the hotel would get 75 rupees for each one. I refused because I hadn't received the room I paid for. The receptionist then told me to get out and never book there again. I didn't argue back, but the way he treated me has damaged my view of Oyo. I don't think I'll book an Oyo room again.

Rooms smelled bad, the bathrooms were in poor shape, and the lock was so troublesome that opening and closing it took ages. There aren't many good places to eat nearby either. I booked online for 1,000 but ended up paying 1,500. The one bright spot was that they kindly brought an extra blanket and warm water. Honestly, I would have rated this a zero. One of Chandigarh's worst hotels, though plenty of places there seem to have similar problems.
