The staff were friendly, and the room had the basics I needed for one night. It was simple rather than fancy, but clean enough and good for the price. I paid ₹1500 after walking in without a booking. City Home is only a short walk from Chennai Central Railway Station, which made it handy for my late arrival and early train.

Stay away. They asked me to pay extra when I got to the hotel, and the staff were rude. A complete waste of money.

The hot water wasn't working, and nothing was done after I complained. They also didn't give me a bill, which made me wonder if they were avoiding GST.

The receptionist seemed to quote different rates depending on who was asking, giving rooms to people who would bring him more profit and turning others away. His manner with customers was rude, and the service was very poor.

My train was over two hours late, so I didn't reach until midnight, but check-in was still easy and the staff greeted me with smiles. The room was ready, the sheets were clean, and the AC worked properly. It's also very close to Chennai Central Railway Station. Polite staff and good room service made for a comfortable night.
