Eldoris Hotel

The beachfront location is a real plus, and I stayed for two days. Breakfast was fine, though it's a basic buffet, so don't expect Western dishes. The restaurant menu is very limited, and when I called to order, some items weren't available. The chicken I got from the bar didn't taste good either. They could use a better chef and more variety. I was also disappointed there was no welcome drink. I've had one at star hotels and boutique hotels in many cities, so I noticed its absence here. There was a rusty smell from the washroom water. I raised it, but the explanation I got didn't really address it. There's no children's play area, either. It's an okay place to stay, but the food, play area, and warm welcome for guests all need improvement. Thanks for the service.

The rooftop is the highlight, especially in the evening, with the beach on one side and IT buildings and homes on the other. The view is amazing, and the rooftop pool is worth making time for. Food-wise, non-vegetarians have more to choose from. Vegetarians get few options, and the taste isn't the best.

The staff were very courteous, and the manager in particular was obliging. We attended a party on the third floor, where the ambience was good. The non-veg kebabs were tasty, but the food was otherwise average. I wouldn't order the paneer, and the peanut chat wasn't good. Getting here is a pain if you're in a large vehicle, since the approach road is so bad.

The rooms are large and clean, and the setting is quiet and pleasant. Service could be a little more polished. I liked the rooftop restaurant's food, especially the Nali Nihari with roomali roti, which is a must try. It works well if you want to spend the day exploring Chennai and then have a calm evening with a beach view.
