Matsya Restaurant downstairs is decent for vegetarian food, though I wouldn’t recommend it for families. It seems more suited to single guests or men. The rooms are old but manageable, and there’s no hot water. The TV worked at first, with most channels available on day one, but they stopped showing from the second day.

We come by in the evenings fairly often. My wife especially enjoys the mangalore bondas, and I usually go for the rasa vadai. The food has that typical Udipi style, with plenty of vegetarian choices and North Indian dishes too.

The food was the one good part, though it was very expensive. Tea cost ₹59 and Doosai was about ₹120. We paid ₹2800 per day plus GST, but couldn’t get hot water, and nobody responded when we reported it. The rooms are large, but old-fashioned, poorly arranged, and not very clean. The place feels more like an old lodge than a 3 star hotel. We stayed two days and felt very bad about it. I wouldn’t suggest anyone visit.

The hotel is in a prime spot, very close to Egmore Railway Station, and the rooms are spacious. They could improve room cleanliness by replacing the bathroom door mats more regularly.

I’ve known this hotel for 20 years, and whenever I come to Chennai, this is where I stay. The front office staff are cooperative and speak softly.
