Greens Gate Chennai

The 24-hour check-in worked perfectly for what I needed: somewhere near Chennai Central where I could stay for 24 hours and come and go at any time. The price was clear and budget friendly, and the receptionists, management, and other staff were hospitable and active in service. The hotel is just off the main road, with direct access to the metro and suburban stations. Chennai Central railway station is only a 400m walk away, and there are plenty of notable places to eat within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast was top quality. The essentials were all covered too: a clean bed and bathroom, bottled water, toiletries, hot water, AC, and attentive staff. It met all my expectations.

The rooms and service were very poor, and the property was badly maintained. It wasn't worth even ₹500, let alone the online price. I booked for ₹1400 through Goibibo, but the receptionist refused to honor it, saying the price was too low and demanding extra money to check in. It took Goibibo nearly two hours to sort things out, and they eventually paid the hotel ₹300 on my behalf so I could check in. That points to poor coordination between the platform and hotel. Why list a price the hotel won't accept? Customers risk being refused check-in or pushed to pay extra. Avoid booking this hotel online. The rooms aren't worth the cost, and the whole experience was frustrating.

There was no lunch or dinner service, so guests have to rely on delivery apps like Swiggy and Zomato. The plates provided weren't properly cleaned or dried, which made eating from them unhygienic. The pillow was so uncomfortable I could barely sleep, and a phone in the corridor rang loudly and continuously through the night. The room smelled stale and suffocating, and the bathroom was in poor shape. Plumbing was unreliable, the toilet flush didn't work properly, and the tap water tasted salty, so it wasn't usable for drinking or basic needs. The AC didn't work during my stay. I contacted reception repeatedly, but the issue was never resolved satisfactorily. With the maintenance problems, poor hygiene, limited dining, and unresponsive management, I can't recommend this hotel to business travelers. I'd advise looking elsewhere.

The rooms are good and the location of Hotel Greens Gate in Chennai is very nice. Parking may be a problem. Since we arrived at 9 AM without booking online, we had to pay extra. Aside from that, the service was good.
