Hotel Grand Palace Chennai

The room was poorly maintained and very unclean, and the service was disappointing. Staff took a long time to respond and didn’t deal with the issues I raised properly. For what I paid, the experience was completely unsatisfactory. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful stay. Management really needs to improve the rooms, cleanliness, and customer service.

The room cleaning was a mess. Even after several reminders, nobody cleaned it until we got back around 11 PM after a long day and had to insist. They only swept, left the same bedspread, towel, and bath mat, and the plates outside our room were still there after 24 hours. The bathroom was dirty, there were cockroaches around, and there was no hot water. The buffet cost 500 rs and wasn't worth it. The counter was empty, so food came from the kitchen on request, and the server looked annoyed when we asked for refills. The food was awful, including the flattest, stickiest idly I've had in ages, like govt hospital food. A terrible tea cost 350rs, like at a 5-star hotel. We stayed four days at Hotel Grand Place Chrompet, and I wouldn't give it even one star. It seemed to cater to bar customers, and I didn't feel it was safe for families or women. The reserved parking seemed to be for bar visitors, so we had to find roadside parking ourselves.

I left early because I was starting to get a headache, and after a long day I didn't have the energy to ask for another room. There wasn't any ventilation besides the air from the AC, and the room smelled like old wood. I even left the door open for a few hours. The floor hadn't been cleaned properly. After walking around for a few minutes, my feet were black, even though there were no windows that opened. The blackout blinds smelled too, and looked like they hadn't been washed in a while. Not a pleasant stay.

I spent a good 14 days here on a business trip, in room 4007. The team was supportive and cooperative, especially supervisor Mr. David and his time, who made every day comfortable and memorable. Those days were amazing, and I had a great experience.
