We were four people in Chennai for biometrics and picked hotel orchids inn for a half-day stay. The management seemed to take advantage of people in visa or biometric situations. They didn’t invite us, we chose to go there ourselves, but we did expect some concession. Lodges and hotels around the area insist on a 24-hour stay instead of hourly rates, and there’s a big difference between the hotel’s interior and exterior photos, as well as in the amount charged.

The room was decent for the price, and service was good. It’s in a good location near us embassy and works well enough for a night. The common area and lift area, though, were stinking.

The room had a bad smell, dust in the corners, and a broken cupboard, while the staff were rude and the rent was high. I stayed one night, then left for another hotel the next day. They also charge extra if there’s even a little dirt on the bedsheet. A very bad experience.

The hotel has no restaurant, and parking fits about four cars. I stayed with my family for a couple of nights; the rooms were average, though the location was good, about 3km from the beach. It’s a typical budget hotel. I added extra nights partly because they had a 7kw AC EV charger, since the owner also has an EV. The staff were supportive and let me charge at very affordable rates.

For ₹1300, this place offers far too little. I stayed three days and found the maintenance terrible and the surroundings extremely dirty. There were several bed bugs and even a few cockroaches. awyaaq
