OYO 27038 Anandha Rooms

We had a terrible stay. The AC wasn’t working properly, there were water problems and power fluctuations, and the service and staff hospitality were both awful. To top it off, we got stuck in the lift for more than 20 minutes. We kept pressing the alarm, but that didn’t work either. This place is very difficult for older people.

The staff were decent, but I’d only stay a night if there were no other options around Avadi, then look for somewhere else. Our room had a lot of problems: the AC didn’t work properly, water leaked onto the pillow, the washroom tap didn’t work, the TV wouldn’t start, there was no shower, and it wasn’t clean enough. Everything needs improvement.

It’s okay for a family, especially if you’re visiting Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram, both about 1.5 hours away by car. Avadi railway station is nearby, and you can get into the city by MMTS, with plenty of trains. The hotel is away from the city, and there’s no restaurant on site. It’s in a function hall, and the OYO service is on the second floor. There’s no lift, so carrying luggage up two floors from the ground is hard. The room was good, but mosquitoes were a problem. The staff could just about manage, though they didn’t know English or Hindi. We were charged 400 for 4 for early check-in, despite the claim of 24/7 check-in. A reasonable spot for overnight stays if you’re covering Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram.

OYO showed 660 rs when I booked, but at the property they said the minimum charge was 1200. When I refused, they told me to call customer care. It was the worst experience I’ve had. I can’t tell if this is an OYO problem or an issue with the hotel rooms, but it needs to be taken seriously with the consumer court.
