The hotel restaurant, Marathas, serves only vegetarian food, and it tastes awesome. Breakfast comes with a complimentary 1L water bottle every day. Rooms and bathrooms are comfy and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The old man at reception acts like he owns the place, thanks to how helpful and well behaved he is. It’s very close, 500-600m on foot, to Egmore station, where you can catch the metro, local trains for Rs5/person, and regular long-distance trains. Chennai Govt. museum is 1km away.

The rooms were good and the staff behaved okay, but I’ll regret this stay for the rest of my life. I left my jeans, shirt and leather belt in the wooden almirah near the dining place. Once I got home and unpacked, I remembered and called reception right away to ask them to courier my belongings. I offered to pay the postage and any extra amount they wanted. They asked me to call back in 10 minutes. I called after 31 minutes, and they said nothing was there. I told them exactly where I’d left the items, and they asked me to call again in 5 minutes. When I called after 26 minutes, they repeated that nothing was there. I used to tell everyone that the people of Tamil Nadu were the most honest I’d met, and I always spoke up for their honesty. I don’t feel the same anymore.

The room was clean and neat, but the staff were so rude that I just wanted to check out as fast as I could. I’d booked through OYO with dinner included and paid for it, but they said OYO didn’t provide dinner and I’d have to pay separately. They told me to talk to OYO assistance if I wanted anything, and that I had to pay there. That was rude. They need to improve their customer service.

Everything was set after I booked through make my trip and paid the full amount. But on check-in day, they said they didn’t accept online bookings, so I had to find another hotel. I waited 45 minutes by the roadside with all my luggage before I found somewhere else and went there. That was completely unprofessional. One star from me.
