OYO 79065 Gold Residency

For an economical stay it might be feasible, but the place needs renovation. The bath water was poor quality and stank, and even the plates they served were dirty. Room service wasn’t very good either. The price changed after I registered: I was told 1000 rupees, then after I’d settled in, someone came to the room saying it was 1300. I felt I had no choice but to pay. I don’t know who I should complain to, so I’m sharing this review in the hope someone takes the upkeep seriously.

I’ve traveled all over India, and I’ve never had staff and service this bad. I didn’t even want to return to the hotel, though I had no other option. The hotel staff were awful, and the Oyo people made it worse. If you want an adventure that ruins your trip and mood, go with Oyo. People who ignore reviews end up coming back to write the same things after experiencing it themselves. Don’t choose Oyo if you want a good, memorable trip.

I paid 200 rupees in advance to book a room at gold residency(pondy bazaar), T. Nagar, but found cockroaches when I got there. The receptionist behaved terribly, and after his nasty conduct I cancelled immediately. I reported the issue to OYO, but I’m not sure they’ll care. It seems suitable only for bachelors, not families or couples. If you look for the lowest price, this is the kind of room and person you may encounter. The rooms are low quality, and people should look for somewhere better with staff who have manners. I didn’t want to be rude, but I did raise the issue with OYO. The refund has been a mess. A customer service agent said the 200 rupees would be returned the next day, but it wasn’t. A week later I called again and complained. A woman spoke sweetly and promised an immediate refund, but another week passed. When I called OYO again, another woman put me on hold for about 12 minutes, then the call disconnected. I called back and a Hindi-speaking man transferred me to another department, where the IVR asked for a booking ID. I couldn’t find one anywhere. I’d spoken to them before using my registered number, but this time it didn’t ask for my mobile number, and the call disconnected again. What kind of service is this? You can’t treat people in India this way. If you want money, ask us directly, don’t cheat us. There was no way to select no rating. OYO gets zero.

I paid through GPay after speaking with the Oyo call centre about a room for 419 rupees on 17 May 2023 in Chennai. But when I arrived at Oyo residency, they flatly refused to give me the room at that price. I had to pay separately for another hotel, and I still haven’t got my money back. I’ll never trust Oyo for bookings again. Please return my money.
