Sand Silver Business Hotel

We arrived at 11 pm for our three prebooked classic rooms and were given rooms 206 and 209, including two interconnected rooms instead of three separate ones. Then they asked the people in 206 to vacate while they cleaned it. After many complaints, the owner told us to take a refund and asked why we'd booked without reading the reviews, then told us to cancel in the middle of the night. After a long discussion and argument, he agreed to upgrade one room because I was with a kid. Room 302 was in the same awful condition, and its AC started dripping five minutes after check-in. The rooms were unhygienic and full of cockroaches. There were gaps around the switches, like in a building under construction, and lots of cockroaches came in through them. The bed backrest was badly chipped. The bathrooms stank and had cockroaches, with no odonil or naphthalene balls. An opening at the top of the bathroom could let pigeons in. The taps were in terrible shape, there was poor lighting, and it felt like a horror scene at night. There was no allout; when we asked, they said they'd given one for the three rooms. They didn't provide packaged drinking water, tea, coffee, or any beverage with the complimentary breakfast. There's no in-house restaurant, so you can't even judge the hygiene of how the food was made. I shared this detailed review to make others aware. It also seems the online booking partners are connected with them, since the owner said these were the only types of rooms they had. They completely ignored the pictures of the rooms posted online.

The room location felt unsafe, and I couldn't sleep all night. The window opened directly in front of the roof next door, so anyone could break into the room. They should never have assigned that room to a solo female traveler. The staff were no good, and I had to ask for a towel and toiletries. The rooms are old and dirty, with broken furniture and a rusty, dirty bathroom. Don't trust the hotel's pictures. Don't choose this place just for its great location, especially if you're traveling alone as a woman. Chennai has great metro connections, so you can find a much better hotel for the same price.

This was my second stay here. They're welcoming, but be sure to check in and out at the right time or they'll demand extra bucks. I booked a premium Sand this time, but it felt like a standard room with little space. They should make sure all amenities are there before guests arrive, since some were missing in my case. The location is perfect, near Egmore, Marina beach, Chennai MAS station, and the Metro.

One of the worst hotels in Chennai. The rooms and toilets were dirty, and I wouldn't recommend anyone book a room here. A very bad hotel.
