SPOT ON 77468 Kunkumam Residency

I stayed for four days on a recent Chennai visit near Mount Road. The owner, whom I contacted using the number on Google Maps, was polite and communicative, and even offered a discount. The room was okay, but the bathroom wasn’t: its door had no handle or lock, and shutting it firmly could leave you stuck inside. The surrounding streets were dirty with garbage, so I wouldn’t consider the location good for families. You can reach public buses and the metro by walking to Mount Road, but finding a decent restaurant nearby, especially at night, is difficult. The elevator was out during my visit. A front desk employee who was often lying on the entrance sofa was reluctant to help with my suitcases up to the second floor. He eventually did it, then demanded money and said it wasn’t his job. He also argued with the owner when I contacted him. That kind of lazy, arrogant staff shouldn’t be working in hospitality.

The rooms are compact but neat and comfortable, and the WiFi is a plus. We’ve stayed several times and had a smooth experience on each visit. The owner is polite and accommodating, taking time to answer questions and help with room bookings and other hotel queries. Housekeeping and reception staff are welcoming, friendly, and ready to assist. Service is quick and efficient. It’s a safe, friendly place, and I’d recommend it.

Restaurants are within walking distance, and it’s about 500 metres from the nearby LIC metro station, very close to Mount Road. The staff are friendly and responsive, and the clean rooms and services feel fair for the price. I was satisfied and would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget hotel in the heart of the city.

The customer service was unhelpful and didn’t respond, and the stay was unpleasant enough that I wouldn’t recommend it. My room was very old and had no AC, with dirty sheets and a foul smell. I regret giving Oyo Hotel even one star.
