My stay at the Udipi Home hotel was comfortable and satisfying. I booked through Goibibo, my preferred app, and paid ₹1000 a night for a double room. The rooms are neat, though there was a little dust on some furniture. The lighting and air conditioning worked very well, and the toilet and bathroom were clean and well laid out. The staff were friendly and quick to help. Ask politely and they’ll handle requests and questions diligently. There’s also a travel desk by reception for train or flight tickets and cabs around the city. The hotel is in Egmore, a 5 minutes walk from Egmore railway station or Egmore Metro Station. Apollo Hospital is 5 minutes away by car, and Marina Beach is around 10 minutes by car. There are plenty of food joints and shops for basic needs nearby, and the metro is an easy way to reach other parts of Chennai. Since it’s beside a busy traffic signal, road-side rooms may get noisy from honking at night. That’s fine. It has an OYO tag and is a budget hotel with good rooms, connectivity and service. Locally, it’s known as the Udipi Home hotel, and it left me with a memorable Chennai stay.
