Saffronstays Mountain Nest

The standout for us was the view of Nandi Hills. We stayed with five families, and the property and facilities matched their description. John was responsive and helpful with our questions before the visit. There was a private pool, though it isn't suitable for small children. The first-floor space was roomy and worked well for recreation or meetings, with a separate dance floor too. Upstairs, the open sit-out had great views. The maid and cook stayed available late and kindly made chicken dishes when we asked. I highly recommend the host and property.

There were frequent power cuts, and on one day five or six repair workers I didn't know came onto the property and even entered our room while our child was asleep. The party room was dusty, while cooking smoke filled the hall and irritated our eyes. The surroundings were noisy from parties at nearby homes, and stray dogs made us feel unsafe walking around. Badminton was listed as an amenity, but you have to play on the road. The kitchen looked so unhygienic that even a quick look was enough to put us off eating, though guests aren't allowed inside. The owner refused to refund food items worth over ₹5,000 that we cancelled, including some unavailable items. Our food bill ended up higher than what we'd paid at a nearby luxury resort like Prestige Golfshire. Not a good choice for families, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The pool was clean and the place was well maintained. Amenities included Wi-Fi, barbecue, a fridge, drinking water, and easy parking for five or six cars. The caretaker was friendly and didn't poke around. The surroundings were well suited to a relaxing night of drinks and stargazing.

The view of Nandi Hills from the first-floor room is amazing, and we could see the clouds from the property. This place has what you'd need for a homestay, including two rooms with bathtubs, an indoor pool, and a play area. It's a great property, and bringing your own vehicle is very useful.
