One of the most memorable parts was the night trail, where we saw bioluminescent fungi glowing in the dark. The sunset trek was another highlight, with beautiful views. The morning trek to the waterfall is more challenging and may not suit children, but it’s rewarding if you enjoy adventure. There’s also mehndi and pottery, plus a local dance and lamp show performed by villagers that gave us a lovely glimpse of local culture. We woke up to waterfalls from our balcony, surrounded by lush greenery and peaceful valley views. It’s a calm place for a monsoon break or a digital detox. The food was excellent, especially the simple, tasty local Goan–Maharashtrian cuisine. A memorable stay for anyone who loves nature and wants some peace.

The biggest drawback for me was how much noise carried between rooms. You could hear everything from the neighbours unless they whispered, and people were talking loudly late at night, having FaceTime calls, or playing videos during dinner. It felt more like a noisy Delhi street than a quiet eco resort in the mountains. The valley view rooms have stunning scenery, and the buffet offered lots of variety and tasted very nice. Meal times were awkward, though: breakfast began at 08:30, which felt late, and dinner didn’t start until 20:30. That was just as the entertainment ended, so the small dining hall filled within seconds. Staff weren’t especially friendly, with few greetings or smiles and little conversation when we made requests, though that may have been a language barrier.

I had a forest view, and it was so peaceful. The rooms felt calm and had no plastic, and the food was free, cooked in mud pots, and healthy. I also liked that people weren’t wasting it. They minimize plastic, though of course some things, like the bulbs, still use it. There were insects, but you’re in a forest, and they can’t control that. They had a note explaining it, since they can’t keep the doors closed while cleaning and things can get inside. That didn’t bother me, and nothing else was really bad. I’d call it an extraordinary experience, well above average.

Getting the room you want takes booking well ahead. I’d waited a long time to stay here, but had to take a forest-facing room instead of one of the much sought-after valley view rooms. The service began in the parking area, where staff accompanied us all the way to our room. The buildings fit naturally into the jungle greenery, and the pool has an amazing bird’s-eye view of the valley. Our spacious, luxurious room was laid out well and had plenty of comforts while still keeping us close to nature. Meals were included, with a wide selection of delicious locally sourced vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. People who have trouble with stairs or getting around may find it difficult. The entrances, trails to the lunch area, and other paths are rough in keeping with the 'wild' feel. I think their sister resort swapnagandha may be more suitable for them.

The buffet was a highlight, fresh and locally sourced, with an impressive choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. We stayed in two beautiful cottages facing the valley, with wonderful views and a real sense of being close to nature. There were enough activities to keep us busy throughout the stay. If you’re after a wilderness break without distractions, this place is a great fit.
