OYO 18954 Varun Residency

I got there around 9 pm on check-in day after calling ahead to say I had a booking. It was hard to find the building because the area wasn't lit and the sign wasn't visible. At the desk, the staff member asked me to delete my OYO booking and said they'd give me the room at the same rate. I was exhausted and just wanted sleep, so I agreed without arguing. The room was on the second floor, and there were no helpers for luggage, so I carried it up myself. Opening the door was a shock. It was a poorly kept one-bedroom apartment. The TV was in the living room facing a torn sofa, the lighting was bad, and the bedroom had no fresh sheets. I raised the issue, but the hotel staff didn't address it. The bathroom was also in poor shape and had no shower. When I asked about a dental and bath kit, the owner said, "We don't provide those items. You can purchase from outside". With no other option, I took off the bedsheets and settled in for the night. In the morning they brought a bath towel when I asked, but it wasn't clean. When I asked for an iron, staff said they don't provide one because the apartment was later turned into a hotel. I hope nobody else has to go through this.

There was no cleaning, and the man at the downstairs reception wasn't worth talking to. Check the place before you go.

This place is a joke, one of my worst stays. The kitchen had a sink but no taps, while the bulbs gave no light. There was a TV and AC, but the remotes had no batteries. The bedsheets smelled as though they hadn't been washed for months, and everything was extremely dirty. They don't even clean after guests leave. A total waste of money. How is this listed as a hotel or residency? Disgusting.

The mattress was comfortable, so we slept well, though the constant traffic outside and doors slamming could keep some people up. The location is very close to the airport and Avinashi Road, where the shops are. Everything else was awful. The room smelled bad, and the commode seat was broken, which we had to point out to the receptionist showing us the room. We paid for breakfast, but none arrived, and there was no drinking water either. The towels were stained and smelled, and the bedsheets and pillows were stained too. We weren't sure they changed the sheets when guests checked out. The OYO flagship hotel staff had told us that this type of hotel, authorized for foreign passport holders, was better than the budget flagship hotels. If that's the case, DON'T USE OYO IN INDIA! What a horrid bunch of 'hotels'. Enjoy the photos of the 3 star hotel!!
