OYO Flagship 41594 Monte Vue

We had booked and paid through OYO, but there was no room for us when we arrived. Nobody let us know beforehand. Kiran, who seemed inexperienced, and the other staff left us to find a nearby hotel while they carried on with their day. We didn't even get an apology. I won't return. You may also find yourself without a room, and the staff may not seem concerned about your stay.

The extra bed turned out to be a real queen-size bed, which was a pleasant surprise after the thin, flat beds we've had at other hotels. We were given a spacious, well-kept 1BHK flat, and the stay was very good overall.

The room was a good size and matched the photos, and both the AC and TV worked. The location was good too. But the service was a real problem. The phones barely worked, and even when they did, room service wouldn't respond. We asked for a towel around 7 in the morning and only got one after an hour of chasing it in person at reception. When we needed to lock up and head to work, reception said the door locks were damaged. We asked to move rooms, but were told most rooms were like that. I was shocked. It felt like guests' safety and belongings were barely considered. The linens weren't clean either. Breakfast was just two small vadas and a cup of Pongal. Customer care had said this was OYO's own property. If so, OYO is going downhill. My earlier OYO stays were much better. This was as bad as it gets.

The place is very clean, with a good bed, AC and TV. It feels like somewhere you could make your home. If you book two rooms, you may get a whole 2BHK, since these aren't separate lodge rooms. There is parking for both cars and two-wheelers. We had power problems on the day we visited, though, so I hope that gets sorted and the place is maintained properly. You can't see it from the main road, but it's a walk from the road to the bus stop, probably about half a kilometre.
