During our Ooty trip on 29 december 2025, we booked three rooms for a day and had a very disturbing stay. Each room had several doors, something we hadn’t been clearly told before booking. In one room, a newly married couple in our group was resting when a woman, apparently a tourist in another room, came in from outside through a second door. It was a serious invasion of privacy and made us feel unsafe. When we complained, the caretaker and a lady staff member spoke rudely and raised their voices. At first they denied what happened and blamed us. They checked the CCTV footage later, which clearly showed a lady opening the door and entering. Even then, the caretaker was extremely unprofessional. He said, “This is a budget room, you must expect this level of security. If you want more security, go to a five-star hotel.” Nobody apologized or showed concern for our safety or dignity. Basic privacy and safety should be expected at any property, budget or premium. It was a very uncomfortable experience, especially for the newly married couple. I wouldn’t recommend this homestay to families or couples. Be very cautious before booking.

Staff were the reason for the stars. I can’t really rate the room: its entrance opens by the reception desk, so there’s no privacy, and you can clearly hear whispers from either side. The rooms are very basic. This is about the ground-floor rooms. The place is secluded and a bit outside the centre, with no shops or restaurants nearby, so you’ll need a rickshaw to get around. For food from the property, let them know at least two hours ahead.

The location is beautiful, but that was about the only positive. Staff were rude and unhelpful through our stay, and the rooms were just adequate, quite basic. They also wouldn’t allow food in the rooms, which was difficult for the elderly people in our group. The food we received didn’t match what the menu and advertisements described, and didn’t meet basic expectations. A very disappointing stay.

A clean place with good service and privacy. It seems a lot of resorts are a good fit for family stays.
