We spent a lovely evening around the bonfire under the stars. Maple has some of the best views of Coonoor, especially at sunset. We missed the sunrise since we woke up late. The homestay has two sections, one for guests and another with the kitchen, dining area, and staff quarters. A large sitting room with sofas is good for time with family or friends, and there are a few rooftop rooms with an open area for stargazing or hanging out. It’s somewhat isolated, so there isn’t much light around. We found it at the last minute on MMT and quickly booked a room for three. It was comfortable enough for us, with plenty of luggage space. The bathroom was clean and had hot water from a geyser around the clock. Drinking water comes in a can shared with other travelers. The staff were humble and helpful. Meals are available for a charge, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, though the choice depends on what they can cook. Otherwise, guests can use the kitchen. If you want alcohol, bring your own brand. The nearby Tasmac store may not have what you like. We ordered beer, but it didn’t taste like beer to us.

We stayed here with six friends in January 2019 while cycling from Ooty toward Kochi. The house has two sections, one rented to travelers and one used by the caretaker. The rooms were airy, clean, and spacious, with big windows and balconies looking out over a lovely view. Call the caretaker ahead if you want food. The road from the government bus stand can make you wonder about the place, but the homestay itself is in a great location and turned out to be very nice.

It felt like staying at home away from home. The family looking after the holiday home created a really refreshing, homely atmosphere, and the staff were very well behaved. They made home-cooked food to suit my preferences and even adjusted some items for my 1-year-10-month-old toddler. The place is scenic, clean, cozy, and well designed. The cots are large enough for three adults to fit comfortably. Strongly recommended.

A neat, clean, well-kept place, with plenty of parking and greenery all around. Since it’s surrounded by plants, I’d recommend staying on the first floor. It’s a cozy spot for families, though a little tucked away, so use GPS to find it. The caretaker, chandran, was cooperative. Food is made on request and was tasty. Since it’s a homestay, bring your own toiletries and other essentials.

The rooms had plenty of space, and the bathrooms were roomy and fitted with good quality materials. After we chose a room, the keeper quickly brought blankets. In the morning we got to see a wonderful view, and there’s a nice outdoor garden for children. It seems like a good place for families. I’d first seen the photos on TripAdvisor and goibibo. With few other options, I booked it for my family. We reached Coonoor after 7 PM IST in December, when it was already dark. Ramesh, the caretaker, stayed in touch and guided us to the property. I was a bit scared because the road was narrow and ran through a residential area with houses on both sides, but we got there.
