The Clive and Curzon

I’ve travelled around a lot of India, and after a few hundred kilometres on the road, having a nice place to stay matters a lot to me. This one is beautifully maintained, with outstanding service, in a marvelous, quiet spot outside Ooty. Breakfast comes with good coffee, and dinner was delicious; they even considered our individual requests. I love this place and will surely come again. Very recommendable!

There’s lots of wood and elegant furniture throughout The Clive and Curzon, which gives it a warm, welcoming feel. The rooms are very spacious while still feeling cozy, and the property has an effortless charm.

We spent two days doing little more than relaxing, eating, enjoying the scenery, and being pampered by the hosts. The package included all meals, prepared in a homely style to suit our dietary needs. The salads and desserts were especially delicious and unusual. It’s a lovely boutique setup in Ketti Village, between Ooty and Conoor, where you can enjoy the Nilgiris weather without Ooty’s traffic noise. The property has three rooms, and our large enough group had the whole place to ourselves, which we thoroughly enjoyed. There’s a forest about a kilometre away that we hope to explore soon. Great hosts and a lovely location.

Cecilia, the caretaker, impressed us with her exceptional service, humble manner, and delicious food. The bungalow itself is a strong reason to visit, with its British-era charm, pleasant atmosphere, green lawn, garden setting, wood fire area in the drawing room, decent-sized rooms, and lovely attached bathrooms. There are also books signed by Dr Vithal Rajan, the well-known author and personality who stays next door as manager. Ketti town is another draw, with its memorable railway station and reserved forests. Thanks to owner Diia for a stunning homestay experience in the Nilgiris.
