OYO 13844 AKD Hotel

The hotel is about 1 km from Mall Road, so getting there means trekking. I wouldn’t recommend it to travellers. The bigger room is beautiful and has a balcony, but the other type is tiny, like a store room, and has no balcony. Booking websites show the large balcony room, but actually getting it feels like a myth. If the rates were economical, I might not have written so much, but they charge 3000-4000 on weekends, which isn’t worth the money. Worst experience.

The balcony view was lovely, and the room had a wooden floor, geyser, WiFi, cupboard, and beds for three people. There was a TV, but every channel was paid. We couldn’t find a heater in the room. Since we’d been shifted from one oyo to another, they weren’t expecting us. Otherwise, I would’ve complained about the unwashed blankets.

This stay was a nightmare and a total waste of money. I was really disappointed by the hospitality. There was no food or breakfast, and the room we got was one of the small corner rooms, stinky and dirty, with so little space you could barely move. They have two room types: the bigger ones with nice views are offered for online booking, while the others are in that hotel corner. I’d had a good experience with OYO before, which is why I tried it again, but this time it was disheartening.

I confirmed a booking through OYO and went to the hotel, only to be told there was a payment issue with the company from the past six months, so they hadn’t accepted any OYO customers for the last seven days. The hotel is not under OYO, and they don’t even answer calls. After that, they offered me the same room at a higher price. It seemed to me they were trying to fool both the company and the customer into booking offline.
