Shanthi Royal by OYO Rooms

Apart from the room size, I can't give this more than two stars. The service was very poor, and hot water was a major issue. I also had a bad experience trying to check in: the lobby staff wouldn't let me in because of an internal issue between MakemyTrip and the hotel owner. I'd booked and paid in advance, but the manager said there was a low-tariff problem and made me wait while I spoke with MMT customer care. That took almost an hour, with my family left waiting helplessly in the lobby. Very bad experience.

The rooms were spacious, but not well maintained. Check the room before choosing one, because the one we got had no fan and no door locks. The blankets and curtains weren't clean either.

The staff were rude and unprofessional. They asked to use my phone, and when I asked why, they said they wanted to check the booking for checkout. Don't hand over your phone. It seemed they were reviewing their own hotel as excellent. I wonder why they advertise on Oyo, booking. Com, and other websites if they don't want to offer deals.

It's a nice but old hotel, and the bathrooms have been renovated. You may miss some modern amenities, which is why I'd give it four stars. For the food and staff, though, it's a full five.
