Clarence Cottage

The night view of the valley from our balcony was unreal, and the family had a blast. The cottage is high up on Mall Road, so there are stairs to climb, but we found it well worth it. They arranged free parking for us in a paid spot nearby, which felt safe and easy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Zubaid and Akash were awesome and very helpful. Clarence Cottage Mussoorie feels private and thoughtfully put together, and it was way better than expected for the price. It's super cozy and felt just like a luxury hotel, easily the best homestay and one of the top places to stay in Mussoorie. A great bed and breakfast pick too. You've got to check it out!

The team, especially Akash, made us feel at home. Our room was cozy and spacious, the place was spotless, and the home-cooked food was lovely. Clarence Cottage Mussoorie sits right on Mall Road, with stunning Doon Valley views. I loved my stay and highly recommend it.

I waited a month after my stay before writing this, to give as objective a review as I could. The location is spot on, right on Mall Road, and the ropeway is a two-minute walk away with a great view. Paid parking is 50 meters away, and the property pays for customers' cars. The staff weren't rude, at least. They told us beforehand about the shared kitchen and the difficult three-story staircase. Nearby restaurants and food apps deliver until midnight, and a helper can cook to your needs. The large smart TV worked, was ready for internet, and there was a small fridge and working AC. The team responded to issues, and things improved from day two, except for the geyser during December. The guests here may suit couples and friends better than families. The cupboard was broken, which could be risky for kids. The sofa bed was shaky and had gaps, really only suitable for a toddler. There was a centimeter-wide crack or gap in all the walls, sending cold drafts into the rooms. It also seemed like a structural concern and felt highly risky. The helper was a problem. Even after repeated calls, he wouldn't turn on the geyser, or would switch it off after a few seconds and act as if he didn't know anything. He wouldn't clean the kitchen or jugs, refill the pouch, or change the bed linen unless we escalated to other employees. He'd lock the gates when leaving, so we sometimes had to wait outside for him to return. There was never enough in the kitchen to make basic tea. He improved a great deal the next day, though, and we tipped him too. I still think these people are good, and hope they improve. Customers should use their judgment carefully.

The hospitality was top-class, and the location felt peaceful. The rooms were very clean and spacious, making Clarence Cottage Mussoorie a comfortable place to stay. Highly recommended!
