Hotel Amber Palace

The room was damp, with a strong smell and moisture across the walls. Hygiene was poor, and even the toilet flush didn’t work. We were told food would be available until 11 PM, but when we tried to order, they refused and said we should get food from outside. Late at night, there were serious concerns about the activities being arranged in the property, including allegations that hotel staff were providing girls to rooms. It made the place feel unsafe and unsuitable for families or decent travellers. Staff were rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. They misbehaved and tried to intimidate us. When problems came up, management took no responsibility or tried to solve them. Instead, they threatened us and told us to leave late at night, which was irresponsible and unsafe. This hotel is poorly managed and unhygienic, and the staff's behavior is unacceptable. I strongly would not recommend it to anyone visiting Uttarakhand. Avoid it.

The room was below expectations. The bed was dirty, the TV didn’t work, and the bathroom tap wasn’t functioning properly. We also weren’t given basic things like drinking water, soap, or towels, which made things uncomfortable from the start. I stayed at Hotel Amber Palace in Dehradun with friends, and the staff were very unprofessional and seemed uninterested in helping. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel unless they improve service and keep the rooms in better shape.

The owner said he could arrange a scooter, but the rental went badly. We booked for 2 days and filled the petrol tank in advance. The next day, they refused to give us the scooters unless we paid an extra ₹1000 per scooter. We lost the money spent on petrol. Very dishonest behavior.

We only needed the hotel in an emergency on Christmas, to leave our bags and shower before heading out on our tour. Our train was at night. They charged us a huge amount for a disgusting room, then their uncultured staff acted terribly and forced us to check out by 9PM the same day. The room was horrible and full of cockroaches. The toilets were worse than railway toilets, and the staff were disgusting too. I've travelled in many cities, north, south, east, everywhere, and this is the worst hotel I've ever seen. Please don't stay here, even a station or bus stand would be better. This was the worst experience of my life.
