Hotel Sapling Mussoorie - 500 Mtr from Picture Palace Mall Road

Getting here from Dehradun by Uber was easy, and we enjoyed the food. The room was beautifully designed and very well maintained, with a huge, comfortable bed. Sitting in the lovely armchair with tea and enjoying the view from the window was especially nice. It was very cold, and they charged 500 Rs per day for a heater. At the hotel they tried to convince us we couldn't get back to the city by Uber and offered an overpriced taxi. We refused and took an Uber. The toilet flush button didn't work properly, but we managed.

We had a good stay for two nights. The food was good, service prompt, and hot water easy to get. Mall Road is 800m away, which is a good distance. Access could be difficult for senior citizens because you have to climb 50 steep steps, though most hotels in the area are built similarly. I'm unsure about parking: the hotel said it had it, but my driver kept complaining and left the car on the street overnight.

We booked six rooms a month ahead, but still couldn't check in on time, and the manager assigned us six rooms of different sizes. For two days there were serious water problems: the flushes didn't work, we had to check whether there was water in the bathroom when bathing, and water was running out of one room. The views from the rooms were a complete disaster. The hotel is very high up on a steep mountain and really inconvenient to reach. Don't book it, it wastes your time and money and spoils your vacation.

On the very first day, the flush wasn't working. They said parking was available, but we had to leave the car a kilometre away in an unsafe area. They also claimed to offer a buffet, but there wasn't one. The food was very poor, and service was awful, with too few plates available. I gave one star only because there was no zero-star option. A very disappointing stay, better to avoid this place.
