Golden Tulip New Delhi - Hari Nagar

The food was good, and the room was clean, comfortable, and kept in good shape. Room service took quite a while, though. Still, I had a pleasant stay at Golden Tulip Essential.

I stayed for two nights, and the theft from my room overshadowed everything else. The person who cleaned it went through my belongings and took cash. They must have opened my bag, found a small purse at the bottom of my backpack, and taken the money. There was no safe in the room, and I regret not asking about one. It’s very worrying. The hotel itself was pretty average and could have been cleaner. Breakfast was okay, and the restaurant staff were very nice, but those positives don’t make up for what happened.

Dinner service was very slow: I finished my main course before my entree arrived, then finished the entree before my husband's meal came out. Breakfast choices were limited, the pastries were hard on both mornings, and there weren’t enough glasses or forks. The made-to-order omelette was good, though. Our first room was in rough shape, with bugs on the bed, mould on the pillow, a filthy floor, and no fridge. They cheerfully moved us, but the next room still had a dirty floor, though it wasn’t quite as bad, plus no hand towels and a loose toilet seat. The location was just okay. A five-minute walk got us to a couple of shopping streets, but there weren’t places to eat there.

Breakfast was delicious, and I especially appreciated the chef making me a traditional potato-filled pancake, something like a waffle, every morning. The staff were warm and welcoming, and I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. Dust in the room gave me a strong allergy during the first few days. Once I reported it, they cleaned the room quickly and thoroughly. I think they should catch that before guests have to raise it.
