Hotel Decent Suites - Delhi Airport

I checked in, looked around, had breakfast, and left immediately. The place smelled of stale, rotten food, and my room was unhygienic, with broken door knobs, holes in the walls, and peeling, dirty wallpaper. The receptionist was rude and unprofessional. There was no early check-in or flexible checkout, either. I booked because of the impressive photos and 4.8 rating from more than 3,000 Google reviews, and I honestly can’t understand that rating. Breakfast was disappointing too, ₹250 for one paratha, which wasn’t worth it. A total scam. Do NOT book.

We booked two rooms, but one hadn’t been cleaned before it was given to us, so we had to ask the staff to clean it. The rooms are on the small side, and the hotel is down a narrow lane. The lift sometimes doesn’t work. Staff were helpful, the kitchen is open 24/7, and airport drop-off is available. The bathrooms are decent and have continuous hot water, which is useful in winter. It’s about 15 minutes from the airport. It’s not as fancy as the Google pictures suggest, but could work well for transit.

I had an eight-hour layover, domestic to international, around midnight and just wanted somewhere to stretch my legs for a few hours. The room was basic, clean, and good value at Rs.1900 (£17) for the night. The airport is only 10-15 minutes away by taxi, which is the best thing about the hotel. They woke me at the right time and arranged a taxi for Rs.500 (£4), and a staff member helped get my luggage into it. They also provided a bottle of water. I left at 3am, so I can’t comment on breakfast. The towels weren’t clean. Maybe staff would have replaced them if I’d asked, but I noticed after using them and was only there for four hours, so I didn’t bother.

The bed was comfortable and the linen was clean. The bathroom was clean too, and the shower was slightly warmer than freezing, as I expected. My room was a good size, and the quiet back street kept me away from the noise. The staff were neither pleasant nor unpleasant, though I can see why someone earning what they do might act the same way. I was only there for one night during a 10-hour layover in New Delhi. It’s a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for. The first-floor room was very damp, with mold showing and wallpaper coming off. Even the paint wouldn’t stay on the walls. They wanted cash, but since I was just passing through, they had to accept part cash and part card. They arranged a taxi pickup, but at 1000 rupees it was twice the going rate. I won’t stay here again if I have another layover.
