The Lohmod

Breakfast was a nice surprise, with some vegan choices too. The hotel itself is quite basic, with a simple atmosphere and little décor, and it doesn’t feel high-end. Still, my room was clean and had no bad smell. My stay was fine overall, though not quite what I expected, and the affordable price makes it a reasonable choice for a comfortable budget stay.

Day 4 was awful, especially after our five-hour flight delay from Varanasi to Delhi. We had arranged an airport pickup, but the driver couldn’t speak English, so meeting him took a lot of time. Then we were brought to a different sister hotel we hadn’t booked. We’d already paid through Agoda, but were told the payment wasn’t confirmed and asked to pay again. More than an hour went by before we were finally taken to the hotel we had reserved. No one explained what had happened or apologized. We lost so much time that we couldn’t visit even one World Heritage site, which had been a major reason for our trip. For our 4:30 a.m. departure flight, we agreed to leave at 2:30 a.m. because the hotel is near the airport. Later they insisted we should leave at 12:30 a.m. because of “traffic.” That made no sense. We wanted to rest before the early flight, and we eventually left at 2:00 a.m. There was no traffic at all. The transfer prices were also hard to understand. The round trip on Day 1 cost 1,500 rupees, while the one-way late-night ride on Day 4 was only 500 rupees. That makes me believe the tall male front desk staff member who took the cash on Day 1 stole 500 rupees. We stayed at this hotel on Day 1 and Day 4, and Day 4 was truly terrible.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and both the included breakfast and dinner were hot and delicious. I slept better than I had in days, thanks to the comfortable bed. I think I was given the room for westerners, 101. Everything worked well, though the shower had a few quirks and I had to move around to get properly wet. The TV worked well too. Thanks for a great stay.

Hotel Lohmod hosted my engagement ceremony, and the whole experience was really great. The service, banquet, food, and stay were all top notch. The staff were very helpful and treated us well. I’d recommend staying here for any kind of visit.
