We arrived around 10 PM after a problem with our original service apartment booking, and called Laila palace. The receptionist said a guest was leaving soon and asked us to come in 30 minutes, so we went for dinner first. He then kept calling to ask where we were. When we explained we were doing as he’d told us, he said we were late and couldn’t have a room. Maybe the other guest had asked to stay longer, but he could have told us that. After we challenged him, he said we could come, yet still refused us when we got there. The whole thing was a mess, and I felt the place was unsafe. I wouldn’t trust it.

The online room photos are FAKE, and I can’t understand charging 2200 for a room that looks like a toilet. The tiles gave me that same feeling, and the rooms were very dirty. Service was awful too. Calling the place a “palace” takes some nerve. I’d give it negative 100 stars if I could.

Stayed for 3 days. The receptionist boy was nice to talk to, and the room cleaning service was good.

I’d settled the price before arriving. At 8:30 PM, after speaking with the MD/Proprietor, the receptionist confirmed 10% off for one room or 20% off for two. I’d also said I’d arrive at 11:30 PM and leave at 7:00 PM, and didn’t want any trouble. When I got there at 11:30 PM, they knew I wasn’t in a good position to find another hotel, and raised the price by 10%. They made me pay 3600 instead of 3200 and wouldn’t let me speak to the boss. I lost my patience over this opportunistic behavior. I won’t recommend it to anyone going to Selam or Yercaud. Even if it seems like the last choice, pick another hotel.
