Hotel Friday Inn

We loved the indoor and outdoor games, open theatre, and camp fire, and the complimentary breakfast was good too. The ambience made it a lovely place to spend time with family, kids, or friends. The staff were kind and helpful. We really enjoyed this staycation.

Just a heads-up if you’re booking online: this is apparently a family resort, and they don’t allow drinking or smoking. They’re also strict about not giving rooms to bachelors. I respect everyone’s privacy, but it’s a hill station and people may enjoy those things with their family too, so keep the rules in mind. I didn’t get a room here, so I can’t comment on the hospitality. Just sharing this as FYI.

I stayed at Friday Inn Yercaud on 6th and 7th December 2025. The rooms were a good size and clean, but the stay was disappointing. The TV also didn’t work properly. The smart door locks automatically as soon as you step out, even briefly to visit a nearby room, without warning. Management said to carry the key even for one step outside. I find this a serious safety issue. I went out to take an urgent call while my 2-year-old was sleeping inside, and the door nearly shut. If it had locked, my child could have been stuck alone, and the hotel had no duplicate key. Food service was extremely slow. Orders took at least an hour, and even tea or coffee took 1.5 hours. At the prices they charge, that service isn’t acceptable. I paid ₹12,000 for two suite rooms and over ₹700 for food. The rooms and food were fine, but the service and management attitude didn’t justify ₹6,000 per room per night. Instagram gave me a completely different impression. I trusted the polished presentation, but the actual experience let me down. They need to improve both service and guest safety. There was no Jio or Airtel tower signal in the room, and the WiFi they provided didn’t reach inside either. We struggled with our kid without WiFi or phone signal. Think before you visit.

We came from Chennai specifically to stay at Friday Inn after seeing its beautiful promotional videos. We booked the A-Type premium stay for ₹8,000 a night, discounted from ₹12,000, but the experience was very disappointing. The villa looked good in the videos, but in reality facilities were poorly maintained and the service was restricted. The pool was dirty with insects and only got cleaned after we complained. Swimming was limited to 1-5 PM despite the very cold weather. Indoor games were only allowed from 6-8/9 PM, and we weren’t allowed to use the billiards or gym because staff said they were “under maintenance.” Those timings felt more like hostel rules than a leisure stay. We also got no welcome fruit or snacks, just one bottle of water. At night we couldn’t sleep because of loud hammering, which we later found out was woodpecker activity on the property. Then both toilets in our villa ran out of water. My wife, who already had back pain, and our 8-year-old child were stuck inside for over an hour in the cold until staff brought water by hand. Staff argued among themselves instead of sorting it out quickly. Management responded rudely and even told us to leave without brushing or having breakfast. The way they spoke to my wife was unacceptable. As we left, they threatened us not to post negative reviews and filmed our family and car without consent. We left feeling harassed and disrespected. I can’t recommend this for families.
